Abstract
A method and apparatus for allocating subcarriers in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system is described. In one embodiment, the method comprises allocating at least one diversity cluster of subcarriers to a first subscriber and allocating at least one coherence cluster to a second subscriber.
Claims11
A method for wireless communication, said method comprising:
- receiving, from one or more subscriber stations, information indicative of quality of one or more subcarriers allocated to said one or more subscriber stations;
- analyzing said information indicative of quality for said one or more subcarriers;
- re-allocating said one or more subcarriers based on said analyzing;
- wherein said re-allocating comprises allocating a first portion of subcarriers to a subscriber located in a first sector of a cell and allocating a second portion of subcarriers to a subcarrier located in a second sector of a cell;
- and
- wherein said receiving comprises receiving information indicative of quality for subcarriers allocated to each of said subscriber in said first sector and said subscriber in said second sector.
3 more elements
A method for wireless communication, said method comprising:
- sending an instruction from a base station to a first subscriber to measure channel condition information for one or more subcarriers, said subcarriers available for communication between said base station and said first subscriber station;
- sending an instruction from said base station to a second subscriber to measure channel condition information for one or more subcarriers, said subcarriers available for communication between said base station and said second subscriber station;
- receiving information indicative of measured channel condition information of said one or more subcarriers from said first subscriber station;
- receiving information indicative of measured channel condition information of said one or more subcarriers from said second subscriber station;
- wherein said first subscriber is located in a first sector in a cell and said second subscriber is located in a second sector in said cell;
- and
- allocating a first portion of available subcarriers to said first subscriber located in said first sector of said cell and allocating a second portion of subcarriers to said second subcarrier located in said second sector of said cell.
