Printing device and printing method

A printing method performed by a printing device, the printing device having one or more engines that are attachable to and detachable from the printing device and print an image on a recording medium, the engines having a plurality of head modules having a plurality of heads that eject ink, the method comprising:

• by one or more data transfer control units, controlling an image data, pixel by pixel, the image data being subjected to print and being transferred from an upper level device via a predetermined path;
• by a control unit,
• requesting the data transfer control unit to transfer the image data in a pixel order in accordance with an ink ejection order determined by the engine mounted on the printing device,
• transferring the image data having been transferred in the pixel order to the head module, in the same pixel order, that is subjected to eject ink from among the plurality of head modules, and
• making the head module eject the ink onto the recording medium.
