Abstract
A protective covering system for wire shelving, designed for ease of attachment to any wire shelving system. The protective covering system comprises a substantially rigid base member which exhibits through areas for attachment of fastening devices between the upper portion of the substantially rigid base and the upper portion of the individual wire shelving member to be engaged. The gripping of the individual wire shelving member on at least each of four areas, in conjunction with the positioning of the upper head portion of the individual fastening members restrains the substantially rigid base member from movement but limiting the three translational displacement components of degree of freedom.
Claims15
A shelving system and accompanying protective covering system comprising:
- a wire rack comprising at least two adjacent, parallel, spaced-apart support rods and a plurality of parallel, spaced-apart, support wires fastened at right angles to said support rods;
- an upper surface protective covering system comprising:
- a substantially rigid base member comprising at least two apertures disposed to receive fastening devices between the upper portion of the substantially rigid base and the upper portion of the individual wire shelving member to be engaged;
- and,
- at least two stand alone fastening members comprising:
- an upper head portion comprising an upper portion and a lower portion, wherein the lower portion directly contacts an upper portion of the substantially rigid base member and do not contact the support rods.
A removably attached covering for a wire-frame shelving system, disposed to span wire gapping comprising:
- a storage member comprising:
- an upper surface disposed for storage;
- a lower surface disposed to contact the substantially rectangular wire-frame which contacts means;
- a plurality of apertures disposed to pass through the upper surface and the lower surface and disposed to expose portions of the substantially rectangular wire-frame for engagement;
- and,
- a set of engagement members comprising a substantial cylindrical upper portion and at least two extensions wherein the extensions protrude downwardly and mate with an upper portion of an individual wire member of the wire-frame shelving system.
