Abstract
The invention is directed to an assembly of photovoltaic cells having at least two different earth-toned colors, where different colors are situated in different cells, the cells color being defined by the donor-acceptor (DA) π-conjugated polymer and an acceptor moiety combination comprising the photoactive layer of the cell, and where the different colored solar cells are coupled into an assembly. The assembly can be flexible and can have colors specifically arranged in a camouflage or other pattern.
Claims7
An assembly of photovoltaic cells of different earth-toned colors, comprising a plurality of solar cells displaying a plurality of colors, wherein each of said solar cells comprises a donor-acceptor (DA) π-conjugated polymer and an acceptor moiety, wherein said color arises from structures and proportions of said (DA) π-conjugated polymer and said acceptor moiety, wherein said solar cells are coupled into an assembly, and wherein at least one of said plurality of solar cells has a structurally different composition of said DA π-conjugated polymer and/or acceptor moiety than others of said plurality of solar cells in said assembly.
The assembly of claim 4, wherein said substituted buckminsterfullerene comprises [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PC60BM) or [6,6]-phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester (PC70BM).
