Methods and apparatus to select and to reselect a resource for peer discovery in peer-to-peer networks

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• means for receiving signals on each of a plurality of resources;
• means for determining an energy of each of the signals of a set of the plurality of resources;
• means for selecting a resource based on a probability for each of the resources in a subset of the set, the probability for selecting a resource with a lower determined energy being less than one and greater than the probability for selecting a resource with a higher determined energy;
• and
• means for transmitting a signal on the selected resource.

A computer program product in a wireless device, comprising:

• a computer-readable medium comprising code for:
• receiving signals on each of a plurality of resources;
• determining an energy of each of the signals of a set of the plurality of resources;
• selecting a resource based on a probability for each of the resources in a subset of the set, the probability for selecting a resource with a lower determined energy being less than one and greater than the probability for selecting a resource with a higher determined energy;
• and
• transmitting a signal on the selected resource.

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• a processing system configured to:
• receive signals on each of a plurality of resources;
• determine an energy of each of the signals of a set of the plurality of resources;
• select a resource based on a probability for each of the resources in a subset of the set, the probability for selecting a resource with a lower determined energy being less than one and greater than the probability for selecting a resource with a higher determined energy;
• and
• transmit a signal on the selected resource.
