Disk scrubbing

A computing device implemented method for data management, the method comprising:

• identifying a predefined set of service level agreement (SLA) parameters, wherein the predefined set of SLA parameters comprises data availability, and wherein data availability for crucial data or data associated with a premium user is higher than data availability for non-crucial data or data associated with a non-premium user;
• identifying a predefined set of data scrubbing parameters, wherein the predefined set of data scrubbing parameters comprises data scrubbing frequency;
• determining the predefined set of data scrubbing parameters for first data in a first data storage based on the predefined set of SLA parameters for the first data, wherein data scrubbing frequency determined for the first data is higher than data scrubbing frequency determined for other data if data availability for the first data is higher than data availability for the other data;
• and
• performing data scrubbing for the first data in accordance with the determined predefined set of data scrubbing parameters.

A data management system, the system comprising at least one processor and at least one memory, wherein the processor is configured to:

• identify a predefined set of service level agreement (SLA) parameters, wherein the predefined set of SLA parameters comprises data availability, and wherein data availability for crucial data or data associated with a premium user is higher than data availability for non-crucial data or data associated with a non-premium user;
• identify a predefined set of data scrubbing parameters, wherein the predefined set of data scrubbing parameters comprises data scrubbing frequency;
• determine the predefined set of data scrubbing parameters for first data in a first storage based on the predefined set of SLA parameters for the first data, wherein data scrubbing frequency determined for the first data is higher than data scrubbing frequency determined for other data if data availability for the first data is higher than data availability for the other data;
• and
• perform data scrubbing for the first data in accordance with the determined predefined set of data scrubbing parameters.

A computer program product for data management, the computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having computer readable program code instructions stored therein comprising:

• a first set of instructions for identifying a predefined set of service level agreement (SLA) parameters, wherein the predefined set of SLA parameters comprises data availability, and wherein data availability for crucial data or data associated with a premium user is higher than data availability for non-crucial data or data associated with a non-premium user;
• a second set of instructions for identifying a predefined set of data scrubbing parameters, wherein the predefined set of data scrubbing parameters comprises data scrubbing frequency;
• a third set of instructions for determining the predefined set of data scrubbing parameters for first data in a first storage based on the predefined set of SLA parameters for the first data, wherein data scrubbing frequency determined for the first data is higher than data scrubbing frequency determined for other data if data availability for the first data is higher than data availability for the other data;
• and
• a fourth set of instructions for performing data scrubbing for the first data in accordance with the determined predefined set of data scrubbing parameters.
