Catheter pump

A catheter pump to be positioned in an ascending aorta of a human being, near an aortic valve, the catheter pump comprising:

• an elongated sleeve;
• a drive cable extending through the elongated sleeve and connectable at a proximal end to an external drive source and to a propeller near a distal end of the drive cable, the propeller mounted on a drive shaft being connected with the drive cable;
• a cage including bands, threads or strips, whereby ends of a number of said bands, threads or strips are anchored in two against each other in movable sleeves on the drive shaft;
• and
• an extension of a distal end of the catheter for anchoring the propeller in the ascending aorta near the aortic valve after insertion of the catheter pump,
• wherein the propeller is enclosed in the cage, and the propeller and the cage are foldable from an insertion position close to the drive shaft to an expanded working position, and
• wherein the extension of the distal end of the catheter is configured to be inserted into a heart and to be supported against a wall of the heart, the extension having a length that when a distal end of the extension is supported against the wall of the heart, the propeller and the cage are positioned outside the heart but in the ascending aorta near the aortic valve.

A catheter pump to be positioned in an ascending aorta of a human being, near an aortic valve, the catheter pump comprising:

• an elongated sleeve;
• a drive cable extending through the elongated sleeve and connectable at a proximal end to an external drive source and to a propeller near a distal end of the drive cable, the propeller mounted on a drive shaft being connected with the drive cable;
• a cage including bands, threads or strips, whereby ends of a number of said bands, threads or strips are anchored in two against each other in movable sleeves on the drive shaft;
• and
• an extension of a distal end of the catheter for anchoring the propeller in the ascending aorta near the aortic valve after insertion of the catheter pump,
• wherein the propeller is enclosed in the cage,
• wherein the propeller and the cage are foldable from an insertion position close to the drive shaft to an expanded working position, and
• wherein the extension of the distal end of the catheter has a form of a circle, a section of a circle, or a spiral being located in a plane perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the catheter, the extension inserted into the ascending aorta in a straight form and return to a natural form just outside a heart, the extension supporting the propeller resting in an outside area of the aortic valve, the extension having at a distal end a distal tip being located at or close to a wall of the ascending aorta.

A catheter pump to be positioned in an ascending aorta of a human being, near the aortic valve, the catheter pump comprising:

• an elongated sleeve;
• a drive shaft;
• a propeller mounted on the drive shaft;
• a drive cable extending through the elongated sleeve and connectable at a proximal end to an external drive source and to the propeller near a distal end of the drive cable,
• a cage including bands, threads or strips, whereby ends of a number of said bands, threads or strips are anchored in two against each other in movable sleeves on the drive shaft;
• and
• an element for anchoring the propeller in the ascending aorta near the aortic valve after insertion of the catheter pump,
• wherein the propeller is enclosed in the cage, and the propeller and the cage are foldable from an insertion position close to the drive shaft to an expanded working position, and
• wherein at least a portion of some of the bands, threads or strips are arranged to extend out from the cage and to contact a wall of the ascending aorta with their distal ends to anchor the cage and the enclosed propeller in the ascending aorta near the aortic valve.

A catheter pump to be positioned in the ascending aorta of a human being, near the aortic valve, the catheter pump comprising:

• a sleeve;
• a drive cable extending through the sleeve and connectable at a proximal end to an external drive source and to a propeller near a distal end of the drive cable, the propeller mounted on a drive shaft being connected with the drive cable;
• a cage enclosing the propeller;
• an insertable thread attached to the catheter near the propeller, the thread being controlled from outside of the ascending aorta to define a position of the propeller;
• and
• an element for anchoring the propeller in the ascending aorta near the aortic valve after insertion,
• wherein the propeller and the cage are foldable from an insertion position close to the drive shaft to an expanded working position.
