Abstract
A system and method for selectively updating remote devices is described herein. A method incorporating at least some of the present teachings may include, for example, receiving a communication from a client application executing on a remote device. The communication may indicate a condition of a game character being played in a massively multi-party online game. The method may also include developing a filtered manifest that includes a list of files needed by the client application and associated with the condition. A portion of the collection may be identified for communication to the client application, and communication of the portion may be initiated.
Claims20
A method for selective distributing game content to a plurality of remote devices, further comprising:
- maintaining a set of content items that are candidates for distribution to the plurality of remote devices;
- determining a first subset of the set of content items based on a first user's interaction with a first remote device of the plurality of remote devices;
- determining a second subset of the set of content items based on a second user's interaction with a second remote device of the plurality of remote devices, the second subset different than the first subset;
- communicating the first subset to the first remote device;
- and
- communicating the second subset to the second remote device.
A method, comprising:
- providing to a network, for communication to a first remote device, a first set of content items associated with an online game, the first set of content items selected based on a first user's interactions with the first remote device;
- and
- providing to the network, for communication to a second remote device, a second set of content items selected based on a second user's interactions with a second remote device, the second set of content items different from the first set of game files.
A computer-readable medium embodying a set of instructions to manipulate a processor, the set of instructions comprising instructions to:
- provide to a network, for communication to a first remote device, a first set of content items associated with an online game, the first set of content items selected based on a first user's interactions with the first remote device;
- and
- provide to the network, for communication to a second remote device, a second set of content items selected based on a second user's interactions with a second remote device, the second set of content items different from the first set of game files.
