Abstract
The invention provides proteins from Staphylococcus aureus including amino acid sequences and the corresponding nucleotide sequences. The proteins are useful for vaccines, immunogenic compositions, diagnostics, enzymatic studies and also as targets for antibiotics.

An isolated polypeptide selected from the group consisting of:
- (a) an isolated polypeptide comprising a fragment having at least 90% sequence identity to at least twenty consecutive amino acids from SEQ ID NO:
- 3178;
- and
- (b) an isolated polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 80% sequence identity with SEQ ID NO:
- 3178.
