Abstract
A method of providing zinc to a subject in need of treatment includes administering to the subject an effective amount of a sustained-release zinc composition.
Claims17
An oral dosage form of zinc including cysteine and one or more forms of zinc comprising:
- a non-cellulose swelling agent providing for sustained and delayed release of zinc.
A composition for an oral dosage of zinc comprising:
- 7.5 to 300 mg of elemental zinc;
- up to 1 g of a form of cysteine;
- an amount of carbopol up to 300 mg;
- up to 300 mg of an effervescent agent;
- and
- up to 30 mg of an effervescent promoter.
