Abstract
A wheel assembly positioning device. The device includes a wheel assembly cradle that holds a wheel assembly. A lifting device is also included that raises or lowers the wheel assembly cradle to allow a technician to dismount or mount a wheel assembly to a vehicle.
Claims19
A wheel assembly positioning device comprising:
- a cradle capable of lifting an object having a weight of at least about 200 pounds;
- a trolley operatively connected to the cradle;
- a lifting assembly operatively connected to the trolley wherein the lifting assembly includes a lifting device that moves the trolley at a ratio of about 2:1 such that the trolley moves substantially vertically at about two increments for every one increment the lifting device moves;
- and
- a mobilizer carriage.
2 more elements
A wheel assembly positioning device comprising:
- a wheel assembly cradle capable of lifting an object having a weight of at least about 200 pounds, wherein the wheel assembly cradle is mounted onto a trolley assembly having a set of wheels that are designed, sized, and configured to engage with portions of the lifting track to guide the trolley assembly upwardly and downwardly within a lifting track, and wherein the wheel assembly cradle comprises a frame, two tire rollers, and a mounting bracket, wherein each of the two tire rollers is rotatably attached onto the frame in a manner that allows the tire rollers to rotate in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction;
- a lifting assembly operatively connected to the trolley assembly wherein the lifting assembly includes a lifting device that moves the trolley at a ratio of about 2:1 such that the trolley moves substantially vertically at about two increments for every one increment the lifting device moves, wherein the lifting device is double-acting and includes a fluid chamber at each end of the lifting device that can be pressurized and depressurized to accomplish the raising or the lowering of the wheel assembly cradle and the lifting device includes a rod that generates a linear action in the lifting device when the fluid chambers in the lifting device are pressurized and depressurized, and wherein a clevis support is mounted onto a proximal end of the lifting device;
- a control switch that is four way fluid control switch having at least three control positions that can operatively bias the trolley assembly to at least one of either move upward, move downward, or remain in a fixed position;
- and,
- a mobilizer frame comprising a base frame, two wheel frames mounted to each side of the base frame, a first set of wheels, and a second set of wheels wherein at least one of either the first set of wheels or the second set of wheels is one of either a swivel wheel or a lockable wheel.
2 more elements
A wheel assembly positioning device comprising:
- a wheel assembly cradle capable of lifting an object having a weight of at least about 200 pounds;
- means for biasing the wheel assembly cradle to move upward, move downward, or remain in a fixed position such that a wheel assembly resting upon the wheel assembly cradle can be one of either dismounted from or mounted onto a vehicle, wherein the means for lifting the wheel assembly cradle further includes the ability to move the wheel assembly cradle at a ratio of about 2:1 with respect to a primary lifting component;
- means for controlling one of either the upward movement, downward movement, or fixed position of the wheel assembly cradle;
- and
- means for mobilizing the wheel assembly cradle for positioning and repositioning the wheel assembly cradle at more than one location.
