Abstract
Disclosed is a steerable sensor array that receives input from a target and applies an averaging filter. An adaptive filter is then used if the SNR of the output of the averaging filter reaches a threshold.
Claims8
A sensor array device with one or more channels having adaptive filtering capabilities for reducing background noise, said device comprising:
- means for applying an averaging filter on the input of each channel of the sensor array;
- means for continuously calculating a beam, a beam reference, reference average, and noise estimation based on the output of the averaging filter to continuously update the filter coefficients of an adaptive filter;
- and
- means for optionally applying an adaptive filter to the output of the averaging filter wherein the coefficients of the adaptive filter are updated based on one or more of the calculated beam, beam reference, reference average and noise estimation.
