Abstract
Techniques for protecting information elements transmitted to mobile stations from intruders. The technique can involve applying a randomized mask over an information element and then providing a scrambled cyclic redundancy check (CRC) value. A seed for the randomized mask can be different from a seed for the scrambled CRC value.
Claims18
A method, performed at a base station, the method comprising:
- determining a seed value for encoding of at least one information element;
- requesting encoding of the at least one information element based on the seed value;
- and
- requesting to transmit the seed value in a message to a mobile station.
1 more element
A mobile station comprising:
- a display device;
- at least one antenna;
- a radio;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- recognize a seed value used for decoding of at least one information element;
- request decoding of the at least one information element based on the seed value;
- and
- request decoding of a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) checksum value using a station identifier of the mobile station, wherein the seed value is different from the station identifier.
6 more elements
A base station comprising:
- at least one antenna;
- a radio;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- determine a seed value for encoding of at least one information element;
- request encoding of the at least one information element based on the seed value;
- and
- request to transmit the seed value in a message to a mobile station.
