Method for positioning user equipment in a wireless mobile communication system, and apparatus for performing the method

A method for positioning a user equipment in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

• receiving, from a plurality of base stations, a predetermined number of consecutive positioning subframes in a radio frame at a predetermined period, the consecutive positioning subframes including reference signals;
• measuring time of arrival of the positioning subframes by using the reference signals;
• and
• transmitting a result of the measured time of arrival of the positioning subframes to a serving cell,
• wherein the predetermined period is set to be larger than a period of the reference signals and a sequence of a reference signal included in a first subframe of the consecutive positioning subframes is different from a sequence of a reference signal included in a second subframe of the consecutive positioning subframes.

A user equipment in a wireless communication system, the user equipment comprising:

• a receiving unit for receiving, from a plurality of base stations, a predetermined number of consecutive positioning subframes in a radio frame at a predetermined period, the consecutive positioning subframes including reference signals;
• a processing unit for measuring time of arrival of the positioning subframes by using the reference signals;
• and
• a transmitting unit for transmitting a result of the measured time of arrival of the positioning subframes to a serving cell,
• wherein the predetermined period is set to be larger than a period of the same reference signal and a sequence of a reference signal included in a first subframe of the consecutive positioning subframes is different from a sequence of a reference signal included in a second subframe of the consecutive positioning subframes.
