Abstract
An optical waveguide of the present invention includes a light-absorptive section formed in a recess of a clad. The light-absorptive section prevents unwanted light from traveling through the clad. The light-absorptive section absorbs light at all wavelengths (infrared light, visible light, and ultraviolet light). The light-absorptive section is located adjacent to a light-receiving element. In the case where there is a light-absorptive section, cores are encircled by the thin clad and the thin clad encircling respective cores is encircled by the light-absorptive section.
Claims8
An optical waveguide comprising:
- cores;
- and
- a clad wherein the cores are embedded,
- wherein the clad has a recess which is not in contact with the cores and a light-absorptive section is formed in the recess.
An optical waveguide comprising:
- cores and
- a clad wherein the cores are embedded,
- wherein the clad transmits only light of wavelengths near wavelengths of a light-emitting element.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
