Abstract
Systems and methods for haptic information preview are disclosed. For example, in one embodiment a method for haptic information preview includes: receiving a message including data; receiving a data quality metric associated with the data; determining a quality of the data based at least in part on the data quality metric; determining a haptic effect based at least in part on the data quality; and transmitting a signal corresponding to the haptic effect to a haptic effect generator configured to output the haptic effect. Another embodiment includes a computer-readable medium comprising processor-executable code for executing such a method.

A system comprising:
- a processor configured to:
- receive a message comprising data,
- receive a data quality metric associated with the data,
- determine a quality of the data based at least in part on the data quality metric,
- determine a haptic effect based at least in part on the quality of the data, and
- transmit a haptic signal;
- and
- a haptic effect generator in communication with the processor and configured to:
- receive the haptic signal from the processor, and
- output a haptic effect based at least in part on the haptic signal.
A method comprising:
- receiving a message comprising data;
- comparing the data to a data quality metric associated with the data;
- determining a quality of the data based at least in part on the comparison of the data to the data quality metric;
- determining a haptic effect based at least in part on the quality of the data;
- and
- transmitting a haptic signal corresponding to the haptic effect to a haptic effect generator configured to output the haptic effect.
A computer readable medium comprising program code configured to:
- receive a message comprising data;
- receive a data quality metric associated with the data;
- determine a quality of the data based at least in part on the data quality metric;
- determine a haptic effect based at least in part on the data quality;
- and
- transmit a signal corresponding to the haptic effect to a haptic effect generator configured to output the haptic effect.
