Abstract
The present invention relates to a method of smoothing and/or bevelling an edge of a substrate. The present invention also relates to a substrate produced by the method according to the present invention, in particular a substrate having an edge smoothed and/or bevelled by the method according to the present invention.
Claims20
A method of smoothing and/or bevelling an edge of a substrate, comprising:
- a) positioning an electrode connected to a voltage source at a distance of from 0.01 mm to 10 cm from the edge of a substrate;
- and
- b) moving the electrode, the substrate, or both, in relation to each other in the direction of the edge, while applying a voltage to the edge with the electrode, wherein the voltage has an amplitude in the range of from 100 V to 107 V and has a frequency in the range of from 10 kHz to 10 GHz, thereby causing electric arc formation between said electrode and the edge and thereby heating the edge.
