Abstract
A method and apparatus of sanitizing drinking water to be dispensed from a water dispenser having a reservoir includes the steps of providing the ozone gas generator that generates an ozone gas stream, transmitting the ozone gas stream from the generator to the water dispenser reservoir, mechanically breaking up the ozone gas stream inside the reservoir to produce ozone gas bubbles, and using the ozone gas bubbles to disinfect water in the reservoir. The ozone gas stream can be mechanically broken up using a pump such as, for example, an impeller type pump.
Claims65
A water dispenser, comprising:
- a) a cabinet having top and bottom portions, the top portion having an upper water supply section with an anti-spill receiver that accepts a bottle of water to be dispensed;
- b) a lower water supply section including a reservoir that extends below the anti-spill receiver and a bottle of water to be dispensed;
- c) the bottle of water having a tapered neck portion that is connectable to the anti-spill receiver by inverting the bottle of water and registering the neck of the bottle with the anti-spill receiver;
- d) an ozone generator that includes an ozone flow line that conveys ozone and discharges ozone into at least one of the water supply sections;
- e) wherein the flow line communicates with the upper water supply section.

A water dispenser, comprising:
- a) a cabinet having upper and lower end portions, the upper end portion including a generally horizontally extending section having an anti-spill receiver and a water supply, the water supply including a reservoir that extends below the anti-spill receiver;
- b) the anti-spill receiver having a projecting probe that is connectable to a bottle of water to be dispensed, the bottle having a tapered neck portion that is connectable to the anti-spill receiver by inverting the bottle of water and registering the neck of the bottle with the said probe;
- c) an ozone generator that includes an ozone flow line which transmits ozone flow to the reservoir;
- d) wherein the ozone flow line communicates with the anti-spill receiver.
A water dispenser, comprising:
- a) a cabinet having top and bottom portions, the top portion having a plurality of cabinet cross sections extending from the top to the bottom portions;
- b) a water supply, the water supply including a reservoir;
- c) an anti-spill receiver on the cabinet top portion and operably connected to the reservoir, the anti-spill receiver having a projecting probe operably connectable to a bottle of water having a tapered neck portion that is connectable to the anti-spill receiver by inverting the bottle of water and registering the neck of the bottle with the anti-spill receiver probe;
- d) an ozone generator that includes an ozone flow line having an ozone flow;
- and
- e) wherein the ozone flow line passes through the cabinet top portion and is operably connected to the reservoir.
A method of sanitizing drinking water dispensed from a water dispenser having a water supply that includes an inverted bottle and neck supported upon a cabinet so that the neck extends downwardly, an anti-spill receiver having a projecting probe that connects to the bottle neck, and a reservoir, comprising the steps of:
- a) providing an ozone gas generator that generates an ozone gas stream;
- b) providing piping that carries the ozone gas stream;
- c) transmitting the ozone gas stream from the generator to the water dispenser reservoir via the piping;
- d) using the ozone gas bubbles to disinfect water in the reservoir;
- and
- e) wherein the piping communicates with the anti-spill receiver.
A water dispenser, comprising;
- a) a housing having a spigot for dispensing water, the housing including an upper end portion fitted with an anti-spill receiver having a projecting probe and a reservoir below the anti-spill receiver;
- b) an inverted bottle water supply supported upon the housing and engaging the anti-spill receiver, the bottle water supply including a bottle with a neck that connects to the probe;
- c) a piping system in the housing for supplying water to the spigot;
- d) the piping system including a conduit that extends is at least partially in the anti-spill receiver;
- and
- e) an ozone generator that generates ozone and conveys the ozone to the piping system.
A method of sanitizing drinking water dispensed from a water dispenser having a water supply that includes an inverted bottle and bottle neck supported upon a cabinet, an anti-spill receiver having a probe that connects to the neck, and a reservoir, comprising the steps of:
- a) providing an ozone gas generator that generates an ozone gas stream;
- b) providing piping that carries the ozone gas stream;
- c) transmitting the ozone gas stream from the generator to the water dispenser reservoir via the piping;
- d) using the ozone gas bubbles to disinfect water in the water supply;
- and
- e) wherein the piping extends into the anti-spill receiver and is positioned in part in the reservoir below the probe.
