Ladder standoff device

A ladder and ladder stabilizer combination used to hold and stabilize said ladder at a selected distance from a structure comprising:

• a ladder comprising two rails and a plurality of parallel rungs,
• a rung embracing square frame member, said square member including two parallel first longitudinal tubular members permanently attached to two parallel second longitudinal members, said first and said second longitudinal members forming a square, said first two members including two rung embracing curved members permanently and coaxially attached to the distal ends of said first members, a distal one of said second members including a pivotally connected rung embracing hook member, two longitudinal stop members perpendicularly attached on the outer edges of said first members and proximate to said curved members, said stop members positioned to cause said stabilizer to remain approximately perpendicular to the rails of said ladder as said curved members and said hook member embrace said rung, a proximal one of said second members having a clip attached thereto, the free end of said clip having a chain attached thereto, said chain having a snap hook attached to the free end thereof, and one of said first members having a first aperture formed therein near a proximal end thereof;
• and
• a base member including an inverted U-shaped frame member having third longitudinal members permanently attached perpendicular to the ends thereof, said third members being coaxial with one another, said third members having a roller coaxially journal led thereon at the outer ends thereof, said third members having fourth longitudinal members permanently attached at the inner ends thereof at an angle of between 130 and 140 degrees, said fourth longitudinal members being co-planar with said U-shaped member, said fourth members having rollers coaxially journal led thereon, said U-shaped member having two parallel fifth longitudinal members attached perpendicular thereto, co-planar therewith and on an upper edge thereof, said fifth members having formed therein a plurality of parallel second apertures, said fifth members being spaced apart to allow the insertion of said fifth members into said first tubular members and wherein said first aperture aligns with a selected one of said second apertures whereupon a pin is inserted therethrough for holding said square member in a selected position with respect to said base member.
