Abstract
A drum type washing machine is provided. The washing machine may include a tub, a drum, a motor rotating the drum, bearing housings housing bearings to support a rotation shaft, a suspension connected to the bearing housings and a cabinet to mitigate vibration, a bracket coupled to the bearing housings, and a gasket installed between the bracket and the tub. Such an arrangement may allow volumes of the tub and the drum may be increased without increasing the volume of the cabinet.
Claims19
A drum type washing machine, comprising:
- a tub fixed to a cabinet;
- a drum rotatably installed in the tub;
- a shaft having a first end portion thereof coupled to the drum and a second end portion thereof coupled to a motor to rotate the shaft;
- a bearing housing that rotatably supports the shaft;
- a tub bracket attached to a first side of the bearing housing facing the tub, the tub bracket including a central portion and an extended portion that surrounds the central portion, wherein the motor is attached to a second side of the bearing housing facing away from the tub, and the extended portion of the tub bracket extends radially beyond an outer circumference of the motor;
- and
- a suspension coupled to the bearing housing.
A drum type washing machine, comprising:
- a tub that holds washing fluid therein;
- a drum rotatably installed in the tub;
- a shaft coupled to the drum;
- a motor that rotates the shaft;
- a bearing housing that rotatably supports the shaft;
- a tub bracket disposed between the drum and the bearing housing, the tub bracket including a central portion and an extended portion that surrounds the central portion;
- a gasket connected between the tub and the extended portion of the tub bracket, wherein the gasket forms a seal between the tub and the tub bracket and allow the tub bracket to move relative to the tub;
- and
- a suspension to reduce vibration of the drum.
A drum type washing machine, comprising:
- a tub that holds washing fluid therein;
- a drum rotatably installed in the tub;
- a shaft coupled to the drum;
- a motor co-axially connected to the shaft;
- a bearing housing that rotatably supports the shaft;
- a tub bracket disposed between the drum and the bearing housing, the tub bracket including a central portion and an extended portion that surrounds the central portion, wherein the extended portion of the tub bracket extends radially beyond an outer circumference of the motor;
- a suspension attached to the bearing housing to reduce vibration of the drum.
