Abstract
Responding to a use of controlled content is disclosed. Responding includes receiving an indication of the use of the controlled content including a context of the use of the controlled content, automatically determining using the context an engagement action for responding to the use, and automatically initiating the engagement action.
Claims19
A method of responding to a use of controlled content, including:
- determining a context of a use by a content user of controlled content owned by a content owner, wherein the context comprises one or more of the following:
- compliance information associated with the use of the controlled content, technical information associated with the use of the controlled content, and reputation information;
- automatically determining whether the use is a non-compliant use of the controlled content based in part on the context and one or more usage rules specified by the content owner;
- and
- in response to a determined non-compliant use, automatically sending a communication to the content user notifying the content user of the non-compliant use of the controlled content and requesting for modification of the use by the content user of the controlled content.

A system for responding to a use of controlled content, including:
- a processor configured to:
- determine a context of a use by a content user of controlled content owned by a content owner, wherein the context comprises one or more of the following:
- compliance information associated with the use of the controlled content, technical information associated with the use of the controlled content, and reputation information;
- automatically determine whether the use is a non-compliant use of the controlled content base in part on the context and one or more usage rules specified by the content owner;
- and
- in response to a determined non-compliant use, automatically send a communication to the content user notifying the content user of the non-compliant use of the controlled content and requesting for modification of the use by the content user of the controlled content;
- and
- a memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory provides the processor with instructions.
A computer program product for responding to a use of controlled content, the computer program product being embodied in a computer readable medium and comprising computer instructions for:
- determining a context of a use by a content user of controlled content owned by a content owner, wherein the context comprises one or more of the following:
- compliance information associated with the use of the controlled content, technical information associated with the use of the controlled content, and reputation information;
- automatically determining whether the use is a non-compliant use of the controlled content based in part on the context and one or more usage rules specified by the content owner;
- and
- in response to a determined non-compliant use, automatically sending a communication to the content user notifying the content user of the non-compliant use of the controlled content and requesting for modification of the use by the content user of the controlled.
