A system for treating urinary incontinence in a patient, comprising:
- a first elongated delivery device having a proximal end and a distal end, a first aperture located near the distal end, a second aperture located near the proximal end, and a lumen extending between the first and second apertures, and
- a sling assembly including a sling at least partially enclosed by a sleeve, the sling assembly having a first end threaded through into the first aperture, through the lumen and through the second aperture of the first elongated delivery device.
A system for treating urinary incontinence in a patient, comprising:
- a first elongated delivery device having a proximal end and a distal end, a first aperture located near the distal end, a second aperture located near the proximal end, and
- a lumen extending between the first and second apertures, and a sling assembly including a sling having first and second ends, at least the first end being operatively associated with the distal end of the first elongated delivery device.
A system for treating urinary incontinence in a body of a patient comprising,
- a sling assembly including a sling, the sling assembly including a first engaging device at a first end and a second engaging device at a second end;
- a first elongated delivery device having a distal end removably engagable with at least one of the first and second engaging devices, for inserting at least one of the first and second engaging devices through a vaginal incision to place at least one of the first and second ends of the sling assembly in the periurethral tissue on at least a first side of a patient's urethra to form a support beneath the urethra, without exiting the ends of the sling assembly outside of the body.
A method for implanting a sling under a urethra in a body of a patient, the method comprising, engaging a first end of a sling assembly including a sling with a distal end of a delivery device;
- inserting the distal end of the delivery device through an incision in a vaginal wall of a patient to a first side of the patient's urethra to position the first end of the sling in periurethral tissue on the first side of the patient's urethra, making no incisions other than to the vaginal wall;
- disengaging the first end of the sling assembly from the distal end of the delivery device;
- and
- withdrawing the delivery device.
