A process comprising contacting a polyhydric phenol or a polyaliphatic alcohol with an epihalohydrin in the presence of a catalyst comprising a Schiff base metal complex is disclosed.

A process comprising:
- a) contacting a polyhydric phenol or a polyaliphatic alcohol with an epihalohydrin in the presence of a catalyst comprising a Schiff base metal complex in a reaction zone under reaction conditions to produce a first reaction product comprising a halohydrin ether.
