Abstract
A SAW-less transmitter includes an up-conversion mixing module, a frequency translated BPF (FTBPF), an output module, and a power amplifier driver. The up-conversion mixing module converts an outbound symbol stream into an up-converted signal. The FTBPF frequency translates a baseband filter response to an RF bandpass filter response and filter the up-converted signal in accordance with the RF bandpass filter response to produce a filtered up-converted signal. The output module conditions the filtered up-converted signal to produce a conditioned up-converted signal. The power amplifier driver amplifies the conditioned up-converted signal to produce an outbound RF signal.

A surface acoustic wave (SAW)-less transmitter comprises:
- an up-conversion mixing module operable to convert an outbound symbol stream into an up-converted signal;
- a frequency translated bandpass filter (FTBPF) operable to:
- frequency translate a baseband filter response to a radio frequency (RF) bandpass filter response;
- and
- filter the up-converted signal in accordance with the RF bandpass filter response to produce a filtered up-converted signal;
- an output module operable to condition the filtered up-converted signal to produce a conditioned up-converted signal;
- and
- a power amplifier driver operable to amplify the conditioned up-converted signal to produce an outbound RF signal.
A surface acoustic wave (SAW)-less transmitter comprises:
- a first up-conversion mixing module operable to convert an outbound symbol stream into a first up-converted signal;
- a first frequency translated bandpass filter (FTBPF) operable to:
- frequency translate a baseband filter response to an intermediate frequency (IF) bandpass filter response;
- and
- filter the first up-converted signal in accordance with the IF bandpass filter response to produce a first filtered up-converted signal;
- a second up-conversion mixing module operable to convert the first filtered up-converted signal into a second up-converted signal;
- a second FTBPF operable to:
- frequency translate the baseband filter response to a radio frequency (RF) bandpass filter response;
- and
- filter the second up-converted signal in accordance with the RF bandpass filter response to produce a filtered up-converted signal;
- an output module operable to condition the filtered up-converted signal to produce a conditioned up-converted signal;
- and
- a power amplifier driver operable to amplify the conditioned up-converted signal to produce an outbound RF signal.
