Abstract
A process and apparatus is presented for the improved selectivity of oxygenate conversion to olefins. The process includes passing a process stream through a two stage reactor, wherein the process stream is separated from the catalyst in the first stage before passing the process stream to the second stage. The catalyst is continuously passed through the two stages, and cycles through a regeneration unit to control the carbon content on the catalyst.
Claims15
A two stage reactor for the conversion of oxygenates to olefins comprising:
- a first stage reactor, comprising
- a first fluidized bed reactor having a fluid inlet, a catalyst inlet, and a first catalyst and fluid outlet, and
- a first stage catalyst separation unit with an inlet in fluid communication with the first catalyst and fluid outlet, and having an intermediate product stream outlet, and a first catalyst outlet;
- and
- a second stage reactor, comprising
- a second fluidized bed reactor having a fluid inlet in fluid communication with the intermediate product stream outlet, a catalyst inlet, and a second catalyst and fluid outlet, and
- a second stage catalyst separation unit with an inlet in fluid communication with the second catalyst and fluid outlet, and having a product stream outlet, and a second catalyst outlet.
A two stage reactor for the conversion of oxygenates to olefins comprising:
- a first stage reactor, comprising
- a first fluidized bed reactor with recirculating catalyst and having fluid inlet, a catalyst inlet, and a first catalyst and fluid outlet, and
- a first stage catalyst separation unit in fluid communication with the first catalyst and fluid outlet, and having an intermediate product stream outlet, and a first catalyst outlet, wherein the catalyst separation unit recovers at least 96% of the catalyst;
- a second stage reactor, comprising
- a second fluidized bed reactor with recirculating catalyst having a fluid inlet in fluid communication with the intermediate product stream outlet, a catalyst inlet, and a second catalyst and fluid outlet, and
- a second stage catalyst separation unit in fluid communication with the second catalyst and fluid outlet, and having a product stream outlet, and a second catalyst outlet;
- and
- a catalyst regeneration unit having an inlet in fluid communication with the first catalyst outlet, and an outlet in fluid communication with the second catalyst inlet.
