Abstract
An integrated circuit (IC) includes a baseband processing module, a GPS receiver, and an RF section. The baseband processing module is coupled to process voice signals and data signals. The global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver module is coupled to process GPS signals. The radio frequency (RF) section id coupled to: transceive the voice signals as RF voice signals; transceive the data signals as RF data signals; and convert GPS RF signals into the GPS signals.
Claims17
A wireless device comprising:
- a housing;
- at least one antenna;
- host processing circuitry contained within the housing;
- and
- communications circuitry communicatively coupled to the host processing circuitry and to the at least one antenna and comprising:
- a baseband processing module operable to process voice signals and data signals;
- a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver module operable to process GPS signals;
- and
- a radio frequency (RF) section operable to:
- transceive the voice signals as RF voice signals;
- transceive the data signals as RF data signals;
- and
- convert GPS RF signals into the GPS signals.
A wireless device comprising:
- a housing;
- at least one antenna;
- host processing circuitry contained within the housing;
- and
- communications circuitry communicatively coupled to the host processing circuitry and to the at least one antenna and comprising:
- a baseband processing module operable to process voice signals and data signals;
- a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver module operable to process GPS signals;
- and
- a radio frequency (RF) section comprising:
- at least one shared RF signal path component operable to receive, as a wide bandwidth RF signal, GPS RF signals, RF data signals, and/or RF voice signals;
- first non-shared RF signal path components operable to process the wide bandwidth RF signal to produce the GPS signals;
- and
- second non-shared RF signal path components operable to process the wide bandwidth RF signal to produce incoming voice signals and incoming data signals.
The wireless device of claim 13, wherein the communications circuitry further comprises an interface module operable to:
- convey the voice signals between the baseband processing module and the RF section;
- convey the data signals between the baseband processing module and the RF section;
- and
- convey the GPS signals between the RF section and the GPS receiver module.
The wireless device of claim 13, wherein:
- the GPS receiver module is further operable to provide a location of the wireless device to the baseband processing module;
- and
- the baseband processing module is further operable to at least one of:
- include the location of the wireless device in outgoing data signals;
- utilize the location of the wireless device in conjunction with system geographic information to adjust one of baseband beamforming coefficients, in-air beamforming coefficients, transmit power level, and data modulation protocol;
- and
- utilize the location of the wireless device in conjunction with system geographic information to request a resource allocation adjustment.
The wireless device of claim 13, further comprising:
