Abstract
According to one embodiment, a lighting device includes: a light source configured to generate light used for reading of an image; and a light guide configured to extend in a predetermined direction and lead light, which is irradiated from the light source, town image reading region, the light guide having, at an end in the predetermined direction, an incident region where the light irradiated from the light source is made incident and a cutting trace.

A lighting device comprising:
- a light source configured to generate light used for reading of an image;
- and
- a light guide configured to extend in a predetermined direction and lead light, which is irradiated from the light source, to an image reading region, the light guide having, at an end in the predetermined direction, an incident region where the light irradiated from the light source is made incident and a cutting trace.
An image reading device comprising:
- a light source configured to generate light used for reading of an image;
- a light guide configured to extend in a predetermined direction and lead light, which is irradiated from the light source, to an image reading region, the light guide having, at an end in the predetermined direction, an incident region where the light irradiated from the light source is made incident and a cutting trace;
- and
- an image sensor configured to receive the light reflected from the image reading region and perform photoelectric conversion.

An image forming apparatus comprising:
- a light source configured to generate light used for reading of an image;
- a light guide configured to extend in a predetermined direction and lead light, which is irradiated from the light source, to an image reading region, the light guide having, at an end in the predetermined direction, an incident region where the light irradiated from the light source is made incident and a cutting trace;
- an image sensor configured to receive the light reflected from the image reading region and perform photoelectric conversion;

- an image forming section configured to form an image on a sheet on the basis of image data obtained from an output of the image sensor.

- generating light used for reading of an image;
- making the light incident on an incident region of a light guide extending in a predetermined direction, the incident region being different from a cutting trace formed at an end of the light guide in the predetermined direction;
- reflecting the light from the light guide to an image reading region;

- causing the light reflected in the image reading region to reach an image sensor and generating a signal corresponding to the image reading region.
