Abstract
The invention provides an electronic device configured to operate as a traffic information client. The traffic information client device comprises an interface adapted to receive traffic information messages, where a traffic information message comprises a location code which identifies a location of a traffic event. The traffic information client device further comprises a memory and a relational database stored in the memory, the relational database comprising at least a first set of relations including at least one relation which directly or indirectly associates location codes with location information.
Claims31
An electronic device configured to operate as a traffic information client, comprising:
- an interface adapted to receive traffic information messages, where a traffic information message comprises a location code which identifies a location of a traffic event;
- a memory;
- a relational database stored in the memory, the relational database comprising at least a first set of relations including at least one relation which directly or indirectly associates location codes with location information;
- and
- a processing unit adapted to query the relational database with a location code received with a traffic information message in order to retrieve the associated location information from the relational database.
A method of operating an electronic device configured to operate as a traffic information client, the electronic device comprising an interface for receiving traffic information messages and a relational database comprising at least a first set of relations including at least one relation which directly or indirectly associates location codes with location information, the method comprising the steps of:
- receiving on the interface a traffic information message comprising a location code which identifies a location of a traffic event;
- querying the relational database using the location code as a search query;
- and
- retrieving location information associated with the location code from the relational database.
An electronically readable data carrier comprising a relational database stored thereon, the relational database comprising at least a first set of relations including at least one relation which directly or indirectly associates location codes with location information.
