Portable Grilling Apparatus

A portable grilling apparatus, comprising:

• a power adapter having a receiving area configured to receive a battery, said power adapter having circuitry for receiving electricity at said receiving area and producing a single electrical output;
• a lower grill housing;
• a support element operatively coupled to said lower grill housing, said support element having a cooking surface for receiving food thereon;
• an electrical heating element in said lower grill housing, said electrical heating element being below said cooking surface, said electrical heating element being in electrical communication with said single electrical output circuitry;
• a lid movably coupled to said lower grill housing, said lid being movable between an open position in which said cooking surface is exposed and a closed position in which said cooking surface is covered;
• means for maintaining said lid at said closed position;
• a second electrical heating element in said lid, said second electrical heating element being in electrical communication with said single electrical output circuitry;
• a secondary cooking surface operatively coupled to said lid, said secondary cooking surface being generally parallel to said cooking surface when said lid is at said closed position;
• and
• a switch in electrical communication with said single electrical output circuitry such that power from said single electrical output circuitry selectively powers said electrical heating element, said switch or another switch being in electrical communication with said second electrical heating element such that power from said single electrical output circuitry selectively powers said second electrical heating element;
• wherein at least one of:
• (a) said cooking surface is operatively coupled to said lower grill housing by a spring member such that distance between said cooking surface and said secondary cooking surface is automatically adjusted when food is placed upon said cooking surface and said lid is moved to said closed position;
• or
• (b) said secondary cooking surface is operatively coupled to said lid by a spring member such that distance between said cooking surface and said secondary cooking surface is automatically adjusted when food is placed upon said cooking surface and said lid is moved to said closed position.

A portable grilling apparatus, comprising:

• a power adapter having first and second receiving areas each configured to respectively receive a battery, said power adapter having circuitry for receiving electricity at said first and second receiving areas and producing a single electrical output;
• a grill portion having:
• (a) a lower grill housing;
• (b) a support element operatively coupled to said lower grill housing, said support element having a cooking surface for receiving food thereon;
• (c) an electrical heating element in said lower grill housing, said electrical heating element being below said cooking surface, said electrical heating element being in electrical communication with said single electrical output circuitry;
• and
• a positioning portion operatively coupling said power adapter to said grill portion, said positioning portion having an attachment member for securement to an object.
