Assigning data for storage based on a frequency with which the data is accessed

A method comprising:

• determining a frequency with which data is accessed;
• determining whether the data should be stored on a solid state drive based at least on the frequency with which the data is accessed;
• causing the data to be stored on the solid state drive;
• wherein the method is performed by one or more devices.

A method comprising:

• determining a frequency with which data, stored on a solid state drive, is accessed;
• determining whether the data should continue to be stored on the solid state drive based at least on the frequency with which the data is accessed;
• responsive to determining that the data should not continue to be stored on the solid state drive, causing the data to be removed from the solid state drive;
• wherein the method is performed by one or more devices.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, causes performance of steps comprising:

• determining a frequency with which data is accessed;
• based at least on the frequency with which the data is accessed, selecting one target from a group comprising:
• a solid state drive and a rotating platter drive;
• causing the data to be stored in the selected target.

A device comprising:

• one or more processors;
• a computer readable storage medium comprising instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, causes performance of steps comprising:
• determining a frequency with which data is accessed;
• based at least on the frequency with which the data is accessed, selecting one target from a group comprising:
• a solid state drive and a rotating platter drive;
• causing the data to be stored in the selected target.

A device comprising:

• one or more processors;
• a computer readable storage medium comprising instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, causes performance of steps comprising:
• determining a frequency with which data is accessed;
• determining whether the data should be stored on a solid state drive based at least on the frequency with which the data is accessed;
• causing the data to be stored on the solid state drive.

A device comprising:

• one or more processors;
• a computer readable storage medium comprising instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, causes performance of steps comprising:
• determining a frequency with which data, stored on a solid state drive, is accessed;
• determining whether the data should continue to be stored on the solid state drive based at least on the frequency with which the data is accessed;
• responsive to determining that the data should not continue to be stored on the solid state drive, causing the data to be removed from the solid state drive.
