Abstract
An electronic battery tester for testing a storage battery, includes connections configured to couple to terminals of the battery. Measurement circuitry is coupled to the connections and configured to measure a parameter of the battery. An input is configured to receive a battery age input variable. Computation circuitry is configured to provide a test output related to a condition of the battery based upon the measured parameter and the battery age input variable.
Claims21
A battery maintenance device for performing battery maintenance on a storage battery, comprising:
- Kelvin connections configured to couple to terminals of the battery;
- measurement circuitry coupled to the Kelvin connections configured to measure a dynamic parameter of the battery and a voltage across terminals of the battery;
- a battery age input configured to receive a battery age input related to use of the storage battery;
- and
- computation circuitry configured to provide a relative test output based upon the measured dynamic parameter and the battery age.
A method of performing maintenance on a storage battery, comprising:
- receiving battery age information;
- retrieving battery test information;
- modifying a battery test based upon the received age information;
- performing a battery test based upon the retrieved battery test information;
- and
- providing a battery test output as a function of the performed battery test and the received battery age information.
