Abstract
The invention provides the use of 3,11b-cis-dihydrotetrabenazine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for the manufacture of a medicament for the prophylaxis or treatment of schizophrenia and other psychoses.

A method for the prophylaxis or treatment of psychosis, which method comprises administering to a patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a 3,11b-cis-dihydrotetrabenazine of the formula (Ib):

A method for the improvement of cognitive deficit symptoms of schizophrenia in a subject, which method comprises administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of the formula (Ib):
