Abstract
A novel mammalian catecholamine-regulated protein called CRP40 is identified. This protein, and nucleic acid encoding same, is useful in methods of diagnosing and treating hypodopaminergic neurological disease, such as Parkinson's disease, multisystem atrophy, lewy body dementia, schizophrenia, and bipolar disease.
Claims15
A method of treating a hypodopaminergic neurological disease in a patient in need thereof comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of a human CRP40 protein comprising the amino acid sequence as defined in SEQ ID NO:
- 8, or a functionally equivalent variant thereof exhibiting at least about 90% sequence homology with the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 8, or a nucleic acid encoding said CRP40 protein or functionally equivalent variant.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- (a) an isolated human CRP40 protein comprising the amino acid sequence as defined in SEQ ID NO:
- 8, or a functionally equivalent variant thereof exhibiting at least about 90% sequence homology with the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 8, or a nucleic acid encoding said CRP40 protein or functionally equivalent variant thereof and
- (b) a pharmaceutically effective carrier.
A plasmid comprising a nucleic acid encoding a human CRP40 protein comprising the amino acid sequence as defined in SEQ ID NO:
- 8 or functionally equivalent variant thereof exhibiting at least about 90% sequence homology with the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 8.
