Abstract
The invention relates to artificial plasma-like solutions and methods for their use. The subject solutions find use in a variety of applications, particularly in those applications where at least a portion of a host's blood volume is replaced with a blood substitute.
Claims16
A physiologically acceptable aqueous solution for use in the treatment of hypovolemia and/or burns comprising:
- electrolytes, selected from the group consisting of sodium, potassium, and optionally calcium and/or magnesium ions;
- glutamine in a concentration of at least 100 μmol/L;
- and at least one colloid in a concentration range from 0.5 to 30%.
