Claims20
A method comprising:
- determining a golfing level of an individual for which the golf club shafts will be optimized;
- and
- selecting an appropriate category from a plurality of categories of golf club shafts;
- wherein:
- a first shaft flexibility range exhibited by a first category of the plurality of categories of golf club shafts optimized for individuals with a high golfing level is substantially consistent with a second shaft flexibility range exhibited by a second category of the plurality of categories of golf club shafts optimized for individuals with a medium golfing level;
- and
- the second shaft flexibility range is substantially consistent with a third shaft flexibility range exhibited by a third category of the plurality of categories of golf club shafts optimized for individuals with a low golfing level.

A method comprising:
- determining a golfing level of an individual to which a golf club shaft set will be matched;
- and
- selecting the golf club shaft set from a plurality of golf club shaft sets of different golfing levels to fit the golfing level of the individual;
- wherein:
- the golf club shaft set comprises a plurality of golf club shafts and a shaft flexibility variance;
- and
- the shaft flexibility variance is consistent from shaft to shaft of the plurality of golf club shafts of the golf club shaft set.
4 more elements
A method comprising:
- providing a plurality of golf club shafts;
- determining a target relationship between golf club shaft length and flex that is substantially linear;
- and
- selecting a set of golf club shafts from the plurality of golf club shafts that approximates the target relationship;
- wherein:
- providing the plurality of golf club shafts comprises:
- providing a first shaft of the plurality of golf club shafts,
- the first shaft comprising a first length and a first flexure,
- the first flexure being defined with respect to a first butt flex of the first shaft, as determined based on a first deflection of a first tip end of the first shaft, relative to a first butt end of the first shaft, when a load is applied to the first tip end and the first butt end is fixed;
- providing a second shaft of the plurality of golf club shafts,
- the second shaft comprising a second length and a second flexure,
- the second flexure being defined with respect to a second butt flex of the second shaft, as determined based on a second deflection of a second tip end of the second shaft, relative to a second butt end of the second shaft, when the load is applied to the second tip end and the second butt end is fixed;
- providing a third shaft of the plurality of golf club shafts,
- the third shaft comprising a third length and a third flexure,
- the third flexure being defined with respect to a third butt flex of the third shaft, as determined based on a third deflection of a third tip end of the third shaft, relative to a third butt end of the third shaft, when the load is applied to the third tip end and the third butt end is fixed;
- the first, second, and third flexures are determined with the first, second, and third golf club shafts decoupled from any golf club head;
- and
- selecting the set of golf club shafts comprises:
- selecting the first, second and third golf clubs such that the first flexure, the first length, the second flexure, the second length, the third flexure, and the third length to approximate the target relationship.
