Abstract
An image processing system and method are provided to adaptively discriminate hard tissues and soft tissues of a target in a multi-energy X-ray system. The image processing system and method may minimize a decrease in a dynamic range (DR) for soft tissues affected by hard tissues in a target where the soft tissues and hard tissues are mixed.
Claims33
A multi-energy X-ray system, the system comprising:
- an image matching unit to match a plurality of target images representing plural energy bands of at least one X-ray, detected after passing through a target, by separating the plurality of target images into images for respective energy bands to generate at least one matched target image;
- and
- a tissue discriminating unit to detect a specific region within the matched target image, to determine a difference image coefficient to separate images including the specific region into a plurality of tissue images, and to discriminate the plurality of tissue images from the matched target image using the difference image coefficient to generate at least one tissue image of the matched target image.
A method, the method comprising:
- matching a plurality of target images representing plural energy bands of at least one X-ray, detected after passing through a target, by separating the plurality of target images into images for respective energy bands to generate at least one matched target image
- detecting a specific region within the matched target image;
- determining a difference image coefficient to separate images including the specific region into a plurality of tissue images;
- and
- discriminating the plurality of tissue images from the matched target image using the difference image coefficient, the discriminating of the plurality of tissues images for generating at least one tissue image of the matched target image.
