Abstract
A method of operating three dimensional (“3D”) glasses having left and right shutters including detecting if a command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in a two dimensional (“2D”) or a 3D mode of operation from a display device; if the command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in the 2D mode of operation, then opening both the left and right shutters; and if the command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in the 3D mode of operation, then alternately opening and closing the left and right shutters.
Claims46
A method of operating three dimensional (3D) glasses having left and right shutters, comprising:
- detecting if a command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in a two dimensional (2D) or a 3D mode of operation from a display device;
- if the command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in the 2D mode of operation, then opening both the left and right shutters;
- and
- if the command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in the 3D mode of operation, then alternately opening and closing the left and right shutters.
A computer readable program product stored on a tangible storage media for operating three dimensional (3D) glasses having left and right shutters, comprising:
- detecting if a command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in a two dimensional (2D) or a 3D mode of operation from a display device;
- if the command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in the 2D mode of operation, then opening both the left and right shutters;
- and
- if the command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in the 3D mode of operation, then alternately opening and closing the left and right shutters.
Three dimensional (3D) shutter glasses comprising:
- left and right viewing shutters;
- a central controller configured to:
- detect if a command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in a two dimensional (2D) or a 3D mode of operation from a display device;
- if the command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in the 2D mode of operation, open both the left and right viewing shutters;
- and
- if the command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in the 3D mode of operation, alternately open and close the left and right viewing shutters.
A system for providing video images, comprising:
- a display device configured to display the video images in a two dimensional (2D) or a three-dimensional (3D) mode of operation;
- 3D shutter glasses comprising:
- left and right viewing shutters for synchronizing an operation of the 3D shutter glasses with the display device;
- and
- a central controller configured to:
- detect if a command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in the 2D or the 3D mode of operation from a display device;
- if the command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in the 2D mode of operation, open both the left and right viewing shutters;
- and
- if the command signal has been received to operate the 3D glasses in the 3D mode of operation, alternately open and close the left and right viewing shutters.
A display device for displaying video images in a two dimensional (2D) or a three-dimensional (3D) mode of operation, comprising:
- a signal transmitter configured to send a command signal to 3D shutter glasses, wherein the command signal requests that the 3D shutter glasses operate in the 2D or the 3D mode of operation;
- wherein the 3D shutter glasses:
- if the command signal is received to operate the 3D glasses in the 2D mode of operation, open both the left and right viewing shutters;
- and
- if the command signal is received to operate the 3D glasses in the 3D mode of operation, alternately open and close the left and right viewing shutters.
