A ketone monitoring system, comprising:
- an electrochemical sensor configured to produce one or more signals indicative of ketone concentration of a sample;
- and
- a ketone monitoring device, comprising:
- a housing comprising a port for receiving the electrochemical sensor;
- a port protector configured to provide contact across both a top surface and a bottom surface of the electrochemical sensor when the electrochemical sensor is received in the port, wherein the port protector includes an engagement feature to align and attach the port protector to the housing;
- a processor housed in the housing, wherein the processor is configured to process one or more signals produced by the electrochemical sensor and thereby determine the ketone concentration;
- and
- a display in communication with the processor.

A ketone monitoring device, comprising:
- a housing comprising a port for receiving the electrochemical sensor;
- a port protector configured to provide contact across both a top surface and a bottom surface of the electrochemical sensor when the electrochemical sensor is received in the port, wherein the port protector includes an engagement feature to align and attach the port protector to the housing;
- a processor housed in the housing, wherein the processor is configured to process one or more signals produced by the electrochemical sensor and thereby determine the ketone concentration;
- and
- a display in communication with the processor.
