Abstract
Administration of Oxybutynin directly to a patient's lungs for treating urinary incontinence, respiratory disease or IBD.
Claims47
A method for treatment of urinary incontinence comprising delivering directly to a patient's lungs a therapeutically effective amount of Oxybutynin.
Oxybutynin in dry powder form having a maximum aerodynamic particle size of 0.1-10 microns.
A method for administering Oxybutynin to a mammal suffering from incontinence to treat said incontinence or irritable bowel syndrome, comprising the steps of:
- providing a dry powder inhaler having a chamber containing Oxybutynin in dry powder form;
- and
- coupling a vibrator to said chamber to generate a cloud of dry powder Oxybutynin for delivery to said mammal.
A method for treatment of respiratory disease comprising delivering directly to a patient's lungs a therapeutically effective amount of Oxybutynin.
A method for administering Oxybutynin to a mammal suffering from pulmonary disease to treat said disease, comprising the steps of:
- providing a dry powder inhaler having a chamber containing Oxybutynin in dry powder form;
- and
- coupling a vibrator to said chamber to generate a cloud of dry powder Oxybutynin for delivery to said mammal.
A method of providing a therapeutic benefit of Oxybutynin while reducing the occurrence of adverse side effects in comparison to oral and transdermal therapies.
A method for reducing adverse side effects resulting from delivery of Oxybutynin to a patient, which comprises delivering the Oxybutynin directly to the lungs of a patient, whereupon levels of N-desethyloxybutynin, are reduced.
A method for reducing pre-systemic metabolism of Oxybutynin to N-desethyloxybutynin and the effects thereof when Oxybutynin is administered to a patient, comprising delivering the Oxybutynin to the patient via a pulmonary route.
