Abstract
A method for processing biomass comprising heating an aqueous slurry comprising biomass, water and a phosphate catalyst in a pressure vessel at a temperature of about 150° C. to about 500° C. to produce a mixture comprising a dispersion of an organic phase and an aqueous phase.
Claims44
A method for producing one or more organic chemical products from biomass comprising:
- (i) heating an aqueous slurry comprising biomass and water in a pressure vessel at a temperature of about 150° C. to about 500° C. in the presence of a phosphate catalyst to produce a mixture comprising a dispersion of an organic phase and an aqueous phase, and
- (ii) separating one or more organic chemical products from the mixture.
