Abstract
Inhibitors of NKCC1, such as bumetanide, when coadministered with inhibitors of GABA transaminase, such as vigabatrin, attenuate both the retinal toxicity and the intramyelinic edema.
Claims20
A pharmaceutical composition comprising gamma-vinyl-GABA (vigabatrin) and a Na—K—Cl cotransporter (NKCC1) inhibitor.
An adjuvant gamma-vinyl-GABA (vigabatrin) therapy method comprising coadministering to a person in need thereof effective amount of the vigabatrin and an NKCC1 inhibitor, wherein the NKCC1 inhibitor attenuates a retinal toxicity or intramyelinic edema side effect of the vigabatrin.
