Abstract
The therapeutic efficacy of zymogen proteins for oral administration is improved by including in the formulation one or more excipients that optimize pH and other reaction conditions for rapid activation of the zymogen shortly after ingestion.
Claims19
A pharmaceutical formulation suitable for oral administration of a zymogen with pH dependent proenzyme activation, the formulation comprising:
- the zymogen;
- and
- an acid or buffer excipient that provides a pH suitable for activation of the zymogen when the formulation is exposed to gastric fluid.
