Abstract

Use of a substance of formula (I) wherein —R1, R2, R3 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen (—H), methyl (—CH3), ethyl (—CH2CH3), C3 alkyl, C4 alkyl, C5 alkyl and C6 alkyl, and —X and Y are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen (—H), methyl (—CH3), ethyl (—CH2CH3), C3 alkyl, C4 alkyl, C5 alkyl and C6 alkyl, halogen, nitro (—NO2), hydroxy (—OH), methoxy (—OCH3), ethoxy (—OCH2CH3), C3 alkoxy, C4 alkoxy, C5 alkoxy and C6 alkoxy, phenyl (—C6H5), benzyl (—CH2C6H5), and benzyloxy (—OCH2C6H5), (a) for the manufacture of cosmetic compositions and/or topical compositions and/or (b) in cosmetic compositions and/or topical compositions for (i) the lightening of the skin and/or (ii) the whitening of the skin and/or (iii) the reduction of pigmentation of the skin and/or (iv) the reduction of hyperpigmentation of the skin and/or (v) the inhibition of melanogenesis in the skin and/or (vi) the prevention and/or retardation of signs of ageing and/or improving the skin appearance of an aged skin.
