Abstract
A gesture recognition method includes detecting multiple pointers in close proximity to a touch surface to determine if the multiple pointers are being used to perform a known gesture. When the multiple pointers are being used to perform a known gesture, executing a command associated with the gesture. A touch system incorporating the gesture recognition method is also provided.

An event generation method comprising:
- detecting a pair of pointers brought into contact with a graphical object displayed on a touch surface and the subsequent relative movement of said pointers along said touch surface;
- and
- generating a scaling event when the subsequent relative movement of said pointers along said touch surface comprises relative diagonal movement.
An interactive input system comprising:
- at least one imaging device aimed to look generally across a touch surface;
- and
- processing structure processing image data captured by said at least one imaging device and being configured to:
- detect a pair of pointers brought into contact with a graphical object displayed on said touch surface and the subsequent relative movement of said pointers along said touch surface;
- and
- generate a scaling event when the subsequent relative movement of said pointers along said touch surface is relative diagonal movement.
