Abstract
A method for reproducing contents using information received over a network and a display apparatus using the same are provided. The method for reproducing contents includes receiving specific information over a network, and displaying contents to which an image effect corresponding to the received specific information is applied. As an image effect is applied according to information which is received over a network, a user may visually recognize the received information through the image effect.

A method for reproducing contents of a display apparatus, the method comprising:
- receiving specific information over a network;
- and
- displaying contents to which an image effect corresponding to the received specific information is applied.
A display apparatus, comprising:
- a communication unit which receives specific information over a network;
- and
- a controller which controls contents to be displayed with an image effect corresponding to the received specific information on a screen on which the contents are reproduced.
