Method, computer program product and apparatus for providing a building options configurator

An apparatus comprising a processor configured to perform at least:

• receiving an indication of a hierarchical structure of building plan options applicable to an enterprise;
• enabling a user to define option sets including selected ones of the building plan options;
• enabling the user to associate different ones among the option sets with corresponding different entities within the enterprise based on distinguishing characteristics of the respective different entities;
• and
• providing for generation of building information models and their derivatives based on selected options within an option set.

A computer program product comprising at least one computer-readable storage medium having computer-executable program code instructions stored therein, the computer-executable program code instructions comprising:

• program code instructions for receiving an indication of a hierarchical structure of building plan options applicable to an enterprise;
• program code instructions for enabling a user to define option sets including selected ones of the building plan options;
• program code instructions for enabling the user to associate different ones among the option sets with corresponding different entities within the enterprise based on distinguishing characteristics of the respective different entities;
• and
• program code instructions for providing for generation of building information models and their derivatives based on selected options within an option set.
