Compounds of general formula (I) A compound of general formula (I) in which— R1 and R0 have any of the meanings given in the specification have affinity for sigma receptors and are useful in the treatment of disorders of the central nervous system.

A method of treating a condition responsive to a modulator of sigma receptor function in a patient requiring treatment, which comprises administering to the patient an effective amount of a compound selected from 1-[2-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)ethyl]-4-(3-phenylpropyl)piperazine and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
