System and method for providing wireless network services using three-dimensional access zones

A system for providing wireless network services using three-dimensional access zones, comprising:

• a wireless network having a three-dimensional network space;
• multiple reference point devices having known three-dimensional positions within the three-dimensional network space;
• and
• a controller coupled to the multiple reference point devices, wherein the controller includes one or more processors configured to:
• collect multiple signals from a wireless device visible to the multiple reference point devices;
• calculate multiple radii for multiple individual spheres centered at the multiple reference point devices from the multiple signals collected from the wireless device;
• identify a circular arc that includes multiple possible positions for the wireless device based on the signals collected from the wireless device;
• and
• determine a three-dimensional position for the wireless device within the three-dimensional network space, wherein the three-dimensional position for the wireless device comprises one of the multiple possible positions along the circular arc where the multiple individual spheres intersect.
