Abstract
The invention relates to diagnosis, detection, screening, identifying and predicting methods. In various embodiments, methods of the invention include diagnosis, detection, or screening for a hyperproliferative disorder (e.g., a tumor, cancer or neoplasia) in the subject; identifying a subject that will or is likely to respond to a therapy for a hyperproliferative disorder (e.g., a tumor, cancer or neoplasia); and predicting therapeutic efficacy of a hyperproliferative disorder (e.g., a tumor, cancer or neoplasia) treatment in a subject.
Claims34
A method of diagnosing a subject having or at risk of having a tumor, cancer or neoplasia, comprising contacting a biological sample from the subject with an agent that detects the presence of LHRH- or hCG/LH receptors in the sample, and correlating the amount of LHRH- or hCG/LH receptors with the presence of or at increased risk of having a tumor, cancer or neoplasia, thereby diagnosing the subject as having or at risk of having a tumor, cancer or neoplasia.
A method of identifying a subject that will or is likely to respond to a tumor, cancer or neoplasia therapy that targets a hormone receptor, comprising contacting a biological sample from the subject with an agent that that detects the presence of a hormone receptor, wherein the presence the hormone receptor in the sample indicates that the subject will or is likely to respond to a tumor, cancer or neoplasia therapy that targets the hormone receptor.
A method of predicting therapeutic efficacy of a tumor, cancer or neoplasia treatment that targets LHRH or hCG/LH receptors, comprising contacting a biological sample from the subject with an agent that that detects the presence of LHRH- or hCG/LH receptors, and correlating the amount of LHRH- or hCG/LH receptors present with the likelihood of therapeutic efficacy of a tumor, cancer or neoplasia treatment that targets LHRH- or hCG/LH receptor, thereby predicting the therapeutic efficacy of the tumor, cancer or neoplasia treatment that targets LHRH- or hCG/LH receptors.
A method of predicting therapeutic efficacy of a tumor, cancer or neoplasia treatment that targets LHRH- or hCG/LH receptors, comprising contacting a biological sample from the subject with an agent that that detects the presence of LHRH- or LH receptors in the sample, wherein the presence of LHRH- or hCG/LH receptors in the sample is predictive of therapeutic efficacy of the tumor, cancer or neoplasia treatment that targets LHRH- or hCG/LH receptors.
