Abstract
The present invention comprises compositions, methods and cell lines related to controlling insects. An embodiment of a composition comprises a plant essential oil and targets at least one receptor of insects chosen from tyramine receptor, Or83b olfactory receptor, and Or43a olfactory receptor, resulting in a change in the intracellular levels of cAMP, Ca2+, or both in the insects.
Claims13
A composition for controlling invertebrate pests, comprising at least two plant essential oils, wherein on contact with an invertebrate pest, the composition causes activation of a G-protein-coupled receptor selected from the group consisting of a pest tyramine receptor, a pest Or43a receptor, and a pest Or83b receptor, resulting in a change in intracellular levels of cAMP, Ca2+, or both in said pest, and said change results in synergistic pest control, and wherein the at least two plant essential oils are selected from the group consisting of d-limonene, α-pinene, p-cymene, thyme oil, thymol, linalool, carvacrol, geraniol, terpineol, piperonal, eugenol, lindenol, lemon grass oil, black seed oil, and lilac flower oil.
A composition for controlling invertebrate pests, comprising at least two plant essential oils, wherein at least one active ingredient activates a G-protein-coupled receptor selected from the group consisting of a pest tyramine receptor, a pest Or43a receptor, and a pest Or83b receptor in a target invertebrate pest;
- and, on contact with said pest the composition causes synergistic pest control, and wherein the at least two plant essential oils are selected from the group consisting of d-limonene, α-pinene, p-cymene, thyme oil, thymol, linalool, carvacrol, geraniol, terpineol, piperonal, eugenol, lindenol, lemon grass oil, black seed oil, and lilac flower oil.
A composition for controlling invertebrate pests, comprising at least two active ingredients, wherein the at least two active ingredients comprise geraniol and thyme oil, and wherein on contact with an invertebrate pest, the composition causes activation of a G-protein-coupled receptor, resulting in a change in intracellular levels of cAMP, Ca2+, or both in said pest, and said change results in synergistic pest control.
A composition for controlling invertebrate pests, comprising at least two plant essential oils, wherein on contact with an invertebrate pest, the composition causes activation of a G-protein-coupled receptor selected from the group consisting of a pest tyramine receptor, a pest Or43a receptor, and a pest Or83b receptor, resulting in a change in intracellular levels of cAMP, Ca2+, or both in said pest, and said change results in synergistic pest control, and wherein the at least two plant essential oils are selected from the group consisting of d-limonene, α-pinene, p-cymene, thyme oil, thymol, linalool, carvacrol, geraniol. terpineol, piperonal, eugenol, lindenol, lemon grass oil, black seed oil, and lilac flower oil., wherein the concentration of d-limonene, if present, is between 20% and 50%;

- the concentration of black seed oil, if present, is between 50% and 80%;
- and the concentration of lilac flower oil, if present is between 40% and 60%.
A composition for controlling invertebrate pests, comprising at least two plant essential oils, wherein at least one active ingredient activates a G-protein-coupled receptor selected from the group consisting of a pest tyramine receptor, a pest Or43a receptor, and a pest Or83b receptor in a target invertebrate pest;
- and, on contact with said pest the composition causes synergistic pest control, wherein the concentration of d-Limonene, if present, is between 20% and 50%;
